Tote That!

Create a stylish and practical tote bag in this hands-on class featuring Tote That! by Kate Colleran. This versatile tote is perfect for everyday use, whether you’re carrying sewing projects, books, or running errands and it’s a great way to build confidence with bag-making techniques.
Students will learn how to cut and assemble a structured tote, work with interfacing for stability, and construct sturdy handles and boxed corners. Along the way, you’ll pick up tips for accurate piecing, pressing, and achieving clean, professional finishes.
This class is ideal for confident beginners and intermediate sewists who are comfortable using a sewing machine and want to expand their skills beyond quilts.
Skills you’ll learn:
- Cutting and assembling a tote bag
- Using interfacing for structure
- Creating boxed corners
- Attaching handles and finishing details
You’ll leave class with a completed (or nearly completed) tote and the skills needed to confidently make more Tote That! bags in different fabrics and styles at home.
If you wish, you may cut your pieces before class to allow for more sewing time during the session.
Your Machine must be no older than the year 2000 and in good working order. Pick up supplies prior to class.
