Free Motion Sit and Sew



Ready to take the fear out of free-motion quilting? This hands-on beginner class is the perfect introduction to free-motion machine quilting using simple, flowing designs. You’ll learn how to create organic lines, gentle waves, and playful spirals while building confidence at the machine.

In class, we’ll cover machine setup, basic free-motion techniques, hand positioning, and how to move the quilt smoothly for even stitches. You’ll practice on sample pieces and learn tips for controlling speed, improving stitch consistency, and troubleshooting common beginner challenges.

This relaxed, skill-building class is ideal for quilters new to free-motion quilting or anyone wanting a confidence boost with organic designs that add beautiful texture to any quilt project. No prior free-motion experience required.

Your Machine must be no older than the year 2000 and in good working order.  Pick up supplies prior to class.

Instructor Bio: Loretta is a seasoned sewing machine expert and dedicated instructor. Specializing in garment construction, quilting, and machine maintenance, she has taught hundreds of students at Hayes classes throughout the years. Known for a hands-on, patient teaching style, Loretta is passionate about empowering others to create with confidence and precision.
